What The Bubble collects, who it goes to, and how you can stop it. No account is required, and the site never asks for your name or email address.
In short
The conclusions first. Each point is expanded below.
- Your training record (answers, EV loss, settings) stays on your device. We never receive it.
- Ads and usage measurement run only if you allow them. They are off by default.
- You can change your choice at any time from the settings page. Withdrawing stops the loading immediately.
- This site is not directed at children under 13.
What stays on your device
Your answers, whether they were correct, the EV you gave up, per-hand results, lesson progress, and display preferences (language, animation speed, 3D quality) are kept in your browser’s local storage.
While you are signed out, none of it is sent to us. It is not visible from another device or browser, and clearing your browser data clears it too. What happens when you sign in is described under “Syncing across devices”.
You can export it as JSON, or delete all of it, from the settings page. Deletion does not require contacting us; it happens on the spot.
Syncing across devices (optional)
You can sign in if — and only if — you want to continue on more than one device. You are signed out by default, and if you never sign in, your record never leaves the device.
Signing in stores the record described above in Google Cloud Firestore. It is kept per account, and the access rules deny any read or write outside your own data.
Anonymous sign-in passes no name and no email address. Signing in with Google gives us your Google account identifier, display name, and email address.
You can delete the cloud copy at any time with “Delete the cloud copy” on the settings page. Signing out stops the combined view on that device.
What requires your consent
The following run only if you choose “Allow” in the notice shown on your first visit. Until you choose, and if you decline, they are not loaded at all.
- Ads — third-party ad providers use cookies and similar technologies to show ads. If you decline, the ad scripts are never loaded.
- Usage measurement — aggregate counts of which pages are viewed and which drills are practised. Individual answers are never sent.
Who else receives data
Only with your consent, or if you choose to sign in, do the following companies receive information about you. What they do with it is governed by their own policies.
- Google (advertising) — may use cookies to show ads based on your prior browsing. You can turn off ad personalisation at https://adssettings.google.com.
- Google (usage measurement) — aggregates page views and similar counts.
- Google (Firebase Authentication / Cloud Firestore) — only if you sign in. This is where the synced record is stored.
Traffic that happens regardless of consent
The site is hosted on Vercel. Opening a page records your IP address, user agent, and referrer in Vercel’s delivery logs. This is unavoidable in serving a website, so it cannot be made subject to consent. We do not use those logs to identify individuals.
Apart from those delivery logs — and the sync, if you sign in — nothing leaves your device. Grading, equity calculation, and the explanations are computed in your browser either way.
How to stop or change it
Change your choice at any time under “Ads and measurement” on the settings page. Withdrawing stops those scripts from loading from then on. To delete data already held by a third party, use that company’s own channel.
Your training record can be deleted with “Delete everything” on the settings page, or by clearing site data in your browser. Anything stored in the cloud is deleted separately, with “Delete the cloud copy” on the same page.

Changes
If we ever collect more, or share with someone new, we will update this document and ask again. Consent given for one purpose is never reused for another.
